The Common Job Searching Mistakes

Hi All,

When we look for a job we generally end up making some mistakes.Especially,in the cases of fresh graduates who are often very vigorous in looking for their first job. They are so enthusiastic to find a job that they end up making mistakes while searching for a job.Remember that it is not just important to get a job, what is important is to get the right job.As a fresh graduate this would be the first job for most of them,so its important to find the right job,as this will have a great impact on their career.

If you are a fresh graduate or you are looking for a job,be careful from doing the following mistakes:

1)Collect and Select Approach: While looking for a job,we get so enthusiastic that we start distributing our resumes to all the possible companies.Though this is a good way to get noticed, but this will not help in getting the right job.Distribute your resume to selective/limited companies so that if you get an interview call, you can manage your time and appear for all the interviews. If you are called for an interview and you miss out on that,it will only lead to a bad reputation. So,be very selective while distributing your resume.

2)Networking: Dont disregard the value of networking. In this competitive market where everyone is equally qualified and experienced,it is very essential to establish a good network in order to find the right job.It is not just essential to have a good network within your family but also in the job market.Meet as many people as possible in order to get the inside tips of the job market.

3)Generalized Resume and Cover Letter: We often make the mistake of forwarding the same resume to all the companies. This is a wrong approach. Before you send a resume, read and edit them according to the preferences of the company you plan to work with.Though this may be tiring but if you are serious about getting a good job, you need to put an extra effort to be hired.

4)Distracted while looking for a job: This is especially in case of fresh graduates. If you have decided to look for a job,be focussed about it.Dont be distracted by parties and other activities with your friends.Though your social life is important, but job hunting should be your top priority. If you are not focussed and serious about finding the right job,you make lose out on a good job opportunity and may regret for it later.

Therefore, avoid making the above mistakes while looking for a job.Finding the right job is very essential for a bright and successful career,so be very careful in every step that you take.
