How to improve your Vocabulary

We all know the importance of spoken english in our daily interaction with the people around us.The base of spoken english is Vocabulary.Vocabulary is the study of "the meaning of words,how and where the words are used appropriately etc".So,it is very essential to have a good vocabulary to be able to speak fluent and flawless english.

Vocabulary is undoubtedly the most important part of the language learning process.Learning vocabulary does not end,you have to keep builading up on your vocabulary as to move ahead.

There are few ways by which you can improve your vocabulary:

- Make use of Translated Texts:

When you begin to learn a foreign language like English,you may initially find it very difficult to get accustomed to the new words and their meanings.So,in the initial stages you may make use of "translated texts" which acts as a language dictionary as it make you understand the english words and phrases in the language that you are familiar with.However,try not to make too much use of the translated texts because though it would make you understand the english words and phrases,but in the long run it would not help you improve your english vocabulary.So,limit the use of translated texts only till the time you require help to understand the unknown words.

- Try out Vocabulary games:

Vocabulary games are a great way to enhance your word base but this should be used only as an additional tool to improve your vocabulary.You may play word games with your friends.This will help you learn new english words.The best thing about Vocabulary games is that it makes the learning fun filled.Remember that whatever we enjoy learning,remains in our memory for a longer period of time.

- Foreign language media:

Media is the strong source to improve your Vocabulary and it is not only fun filled,it helps you learn and grasp new words more naturally.Every source of media starting from Radio,T.V,Magazine ads,Computer Games etc,where you get a chance to learn,should be taken as an opportunity to improve your vocabulary.However,some languages are easier to learn than the others but English is a very commonly used language in the media and so you will not find it difficult to improve your vocabulary through media.

Once you have developed a strong base on the Vocabulary feel free to move on to more complex elements of the language, such as spelling,pronunciation,writing,grammar etc.For translated texts,vocabulary games and foreign language media you will find a number of online sites to assist you about the same.

However you should remember that the above are just a few ways of improving your vocabulary.If you are concious about your surroundings,then everyday would be a learning experience for you.So,move ahead and develop a strong vocabulary so that you dont need to hesitate while speaking in English in public.

Remember that you are not different from the others.If others can learn and speak fluent English,then even you can do so.It just requires some effort from your end.Nothing in life comes easy,but if you are sincere towards your goal,you will surely be a winner.
